Club runners round off October in style

First Of May and General Medrano provided Elite Racing Club members with a thrilling end to October when both won their latest starts.

The James Fanshawe-trained First Of May, who's a granddaughter of the brilliant miler Soviet Song, added a third win to her career tally when successful in a fillies' handicap at Wolverhampton on Thursday 26 October.

General Medrano, trained by Emma Lavelle, looked progressive over hurdles last season, his campaign culminating in a very good fourth in the £100,000 novices' handicap hurdle final at Sandown's end-of-season meeting. Following his summer break, he made a winning start over fences at Uttoxeter earlier this month before following up on Monday 30 October with a smooth win in a Class 3 handicap chase at Huntingdon.
